For Internet Explorer
Not using the proxy server is the leading cause of Internet slowdowns for students in the residence Halls. If you’re using Windows XP and Internet Explorer, you can use the netsetup program to install the proxy server. The proxy server can also be used on Firefox. For a Macintosh, see the OSX setup instructions. Punxsutawney campus has its own proxy server.
- To install the proxy server manually in Internet Explorer:
- Start Internet Explorer, click on Tools, then click on Internet Options.
- Click on the Connections tab, and then select LAN Settings.
- Check the Use automatic configuration script box. Enter the address http://web-proxy.iup.edu/config.pac
- Click OK on both the Local Area Network Settings window and Internet Options window. Your Internet Explorer browser is now configured to use the IUP Web Proxy Server.
For Firefox Version 2.0.0.7
Follow these instructions:
- Open Firefox.
- Select “Tools” and choose the “Network” tab.

- Click on the "Settings" button

Older Versions of Firefox
Follow these instructions:
- Open Firefox.
- Select “Tools” and choose “Options.”

- Select “Connection Settings.”
