Costs and Tuition

As an international student, you will have slightly different fees and follow different procedures for paying them. Those details are outlined below.

 

 

 

What Are My Fees and When Do I Pay Them?

Following is information about when to pay your bill:

Degree-Seeking Students

You will not pay your bill to the university until the orientation program. However, if you should receive a bill from the university, bring the bill with you to the orientation program, and we will take care of it at that time. All bills will initially indicate that you owe out-of-state tuition. However, adjustments will be made to your bill during the orientation program for those attending under an exchange agreement or for those receiving any special funding.

Exchange Students

If you are attending IUP as an exchange student, you still may receive a bill. This will require you to pay only the amount that is not covered by your agreement, for example, Internet connection, airport transportation, and, in many instances, room and meals.

Please note: Tuition and fees are subject to change at any time. Prices are often increased in July for the next academic year. All prices on immigration documents and brochures are subject to change.

If the appropriate fees are not paid, students will not be enrolled in any classes. Please be aware that when you were admitted to IUP, you were required to provide information to IUP and the U.S. Department of State showing that you could meet the financial obligations of attending this institution.

What Type of Payment Will IUP Accept?

Since you will be expected to pay IUP tuition, fees, mandatory health insurance, orientation fee, and, if applicable, room and board during orientation, please make sure that you have made appropriate banking arrangements. A representative from a local on-campus bank, PNC, will attend orientation and assist all students interested in opening a PNC bank account. Other banks have student accounts as well and are within walking distance of IUP.

Acceptable forms of payment are as follows:

  • Bank cashier’s check or traveler’s check negotiable in U.S. dollars, drawn on a U.S. bank, and payable to Indiana University of Pennsylvania
  • Cash
  • Check drawn on a U.S. bank
  • International postal money order
  • Credit cards: MasterCard, American Express, and Discover, 2.75 percent convenience fee
  • peerTransfer: to get started, go to the IUP peerTransfer website to create a peerTransfer login and fill out your payment details and also find more information about it. IUP has partnered with peerTransfer to save you money on your International student Payments.You could also visit the Bursar’s website for more information.

Please note: IUP will not accept foreign currency or checks drawn on a foreign bank account or Visa credit cards.

It takes banks several weeks to process checks that are drawn on a foreign bank. Traveler’s checks, bank cashier’s checks, or international postal money orders, all made payable in U.S. dollars by a U.S. bank or financial agency, can be processed by banks without delay. Your local home bank can advise you of these matters, and we suggest that you discuss them with your bank before leaving home.
