Informal Welcome
An informal welcome party will be held the first day of orientation at 9:00 p.m. in the Hadley Union Building (HUB). The aim is to enable you to meet other new incoming and returning international students in an informal setting.
Why Is Orientation Mandatory?
IUP provides a mandatory International Student Orientation Program for all new students. You are required to attend; it is not optional. It will cover the basic and important issues that are relative to your ability to settle quickly into life at IUP and the Indiana community. Even if you have had previous experience in the United States, we ask that you attend. There is a charge for all students required to attend orientation.
The formal orientation program begins at 9:00 a.m. in the HUB the day after the pizza party.
A continental breakfast will be served buffet style. An orientation packet with the complete schedule of orientation sessions will be distributed at that time. Students are required to arrive for the first session on this day and subsequent sessions that will be held until classes begin.

On-campus housing check-in at Sutton Suites for all students who have housing contracts with IUP. Please note: IUP will not be able to accommodate arrivals before 3:00 p.m. or after 10:00 p.m. Students living off campus can move in as permitted by their landlords.
- Between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m.
IUP bus from Pittsburgh airport (reserved in advance; confirmation of exact arrival time will be e-mailed to you) $50 per person
- 9:00–11:00 p.m.
