How do I register for summer classes?
Register for on-campus or online summer classes in URSA, the same way you do for spring and fall classes. You don’t need a different PIN.
- Log in to URSA. Select “Student Services” and “Registration.
Graduate Courses, Non-Degree-Seeking
Can I take one graduate course?
Yes! You can take one course without completing a full application to the School of Graduate Studies. (if you have never taken graduate coursework at IUP)
Can I take more than one graduate course?
Yes! Through IUP's Special Status category, students can enroll in more than one graduate course.
- Log into URSA and complete the Special Status Application.
I’m a teacher who'd like to earn Level II certification credits.
Educators can apply through the graduate school for courses leading to Level II certification.
- Log into URSA and complete application.
- Submit with a copy of your Level 1 teaching certificate and a nonrefundable $50 application fee.

If You're Not an IUP Student and Want to Take Undergraduate Courses for Credit
I’m a teacher interested in credit or certification in a second subject to meet school district requirements.
Through Adult and Continuing Education, you can take any undergraduate course offered on campus or online. (Some courses require prerequisites.)

- Submit your application, your transcript, and a nonrefundable $50 application fee to Adult and Continuing Education at the address shown on the form.
I'm a student at another college. Can I take courses for transfer credit while I’m on break?
Yes! Through Adult and Continuing Education, you can take courses online or on campus as a visiting college student. Take up to 17.9 credits over the entire Summer Session. (Some courses require prerequisites.)

- Provide your transcript. (An unofficial copy is acceptable.)
- Submit your application, your transcript, and a nonrefundable $50 application fee to Adult and Continuing Education at the address given on the form.
I’d like to take an undergraduate course for professional advancement or personal interest. Can I earn credit?
If you already have a bachelor’s degree, high school diploma, or GED, you can take summer courses for credit online or on campus through Adult and Continuing Education. (Note: Some courses require prerequisites.)

High School Students
I’m a junior or senior at a high school that participates in the Dual Enrollment Program. How can I take courses?
If your school district is participating in the Dual Enrollment Program, and you meet school district criteria, you can enroll in courses for both high school and college credit. The credit will be transferable to IUP and many other colleges and universities. As a Dual Enrollment student, you’ll enjoy a 75 percent IUP tuition discount.
- You can take one or two courses per semester from the approved course list online or on campus at IUP Indiana, Northpointe, or Punxsutawney.
- Contact your high school guidance counselor. He or she must approve your participation and will process the paperwork with you.
Can I take courses even if my high school isn't in the Dual Enrollment Program?
Yes! You can take courses as a visiting high school student if you're a junior or senior with at least a 3.0 overall GPA. Talk to your guidance counselor to determine whether you’re eligible and the courses will apply as high school credit. The credit will be transferable to IUP and many other colleges and universities.

Individuals Interested in Auditing Courses
Can I attend classes without being required to do the work or getting a grade or credit?
Through Adult and Continuing Education, anyone can audit a class as long as the professor grants permission.
You’ll need to pay full instructional fees for each course audited. Exception: Persons on Social Security or equivalent retirement benefits are given remission of basic fees.

- Contact the professor teaching the course and obtain permission to audit. The professor should send an email of approval to kaohara@iup.edu.
