Below you will find a helpful tutorial regarding how to use the multimedia equipment in the classroom. You will find two different tutorials depending on which type of installation is in the room.

Red Control Panel
Turning on the Computer
- Obtain the key to the podium from your College Technology Manager (CTM).
- Open the computer cabinet using the key.
- Flip the large orange switch labeled “System Power” to on.
- Push the Power button on the front of the computer.
- Turn on the monitor by pushing the Power button on the front of the monitor.
Note: if there is an orange light on the front of the monitor, this means the monitor is in sleep mode and you do not need to touch the power button. When you push the power button on the computer this light should turn green.
Logging on Using Your Own Account Information
- Enter your username and password.
- Select IUPMSD from the domain list.
- Click Ok.

Control Screen
After the computer has started, the Control Screen for the multimedia software will appear.
From the Class Room Control screen you can turn the projector on and off as well as choose the device to use, i.e. DVD player, VCR, Document Camera, etc.
Please Note: The active device on the Class Room Control screen will be green.
Turning on the Projector
You must turn on the computer when using any of the multimedia equipment. Before shutting down the computer, you need to turn OFF the projector.
To turn on the projector:
- Go to the Class Room Control screen, click the Power On button (Figure 1).
- Give the projector time to fully warm up before switching devices (projector status button is green).
- The projector will default to the last device used.
Once you press the Power On button, an indicator will appear stating that the projector is warming up.
Using the VCR
You must turn on the computer when using any of the multimedia equipment. Before shutting down the computer, you need to turn OFF the projector.
To turn on the projector:
- Go to the Class Room Control screen, click the Power On button (Figure 1).
- Give the projector time to fully warm up before switching devices (projector status button is green).
- The projector will default to the last device used.
Once you press the Power On button, an indicator will appear stating that the projector is warming up.
Using a Laptop
To connect a laptop to the projector:
- Connect the laptop using a 15 pin projector cable to the connector labeled Laptop on the left side of the multimedia cabinet. You will need to connect the Sound cable for sound applications.
- On the Class Room Control screen, click on the Laptop button.
- You can obtain the necessary cables from your College Technology Manager (CTM) if needed.
Using the Document Camera
To use the Document Camera:
- On the Class Room Control screen, click on the DocCam button.
- Lay the document face up on the surface of the document camera
Note: The power button is located on the left side of the Document Camera.
Using Picture Mute
If you would like to mute the picture (put the projector image into sleep mode) simply click the Picture Mute button. To turn the projector back on, click Picture Mute again.
Shutting Down the Projector
To shut down the projector:
- On the control screen, click the Power Off button (Figure 1).
- From the Start Menu select Shut Down.
- Once the computer has fully shut down, flip the orange power switch located in the multimedia cabinet to off.
Note
- To return the projector to PC mode after using any of the other functions, simply click on the PC button. Remember the active button will be green.
- To adjust the volume of the projector, use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons located on the control screen. (Figure 1) Note that as you switch from mode to mode the volume is reset to 0%.
- Please do not move or rearrange the multimedia equipment. This will help prevent damage to the equipment.
- To obtain a key to the multimedia cabinet, see your College Technology Manager.
- You MUST logon to the computer using your own username and password.
- Please remember to turn off all equipment and lock the doors to the cabinet when finished.

Grey Control Panel
Turning on the Computer

- Turn on the monitor by pushing the Power button on the front of the monitor.
Note: if there is an orange light on the front of the monitor, this means the monitor is in sleep mode and you do not need to touch the power button. When you push the power button on the computer this light should turn green.

- Select IUPMSD from the domain list.
- Click Ok.
Control Screen

- Insert the video into the VCR and push the Play button. You can also control the VCR using the on-screen control buttons.
Using a Laptop

- On the Class Room Control screen, click on the Laptop button.

Using the DVD Player
To use the DVD player:
- In the multimedia cabinet, push the Power button on the DVD player.
- On the Class Room Control screen, switch to DVD mode by clicking on DVD (Figure 1).
- Insert the DVD into the DVD player and push the Play button. You can also control the DVD using the on-screen control buttons.
Using the Document Camera
To use the Document Camera:
- On the Class Room Control screen, click on the DocCam button (Figure 1).
- Lay the document face up on the surface of the document camera
Note: The power button is located on the left side of the Document Camera. Also, when using transparencies, turn on the back light.
Using Picture Mute
