What is SkillZone?

The SkillZone is a free drop-in center for all IUP international students (ALI, undergraduates, exchange, and graduates) to access support for essential academic skills:

  • presentation and communication skills
  • study strategies
  • managing classroom expectations
  • academic integrity issues
  • Wednesday workshops 
  • group discussions
  • GRE and GMAT preparation workshops

Where is it?

The SkillZone is located in Eicher 206 and 208 down the hall from the IUP Writing Center. Eicher Hall is next to the smoke stacks.

When is it?

The SkillZone is open Monday through Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. from September 8 through December 11 during the fall semester, and from February 2 through May 7 during the spring semester.

What does it cost?

The SkillZone and its services are free of charge to students currently enrolled at IUP.

What do SkillZone tutors do?

SkillZone tutors provide international students with support for academic skills such as study strategies, managing classroom expectations, technology, and academic integrity.

The Office of International Education’s exciting new SkillZone Program is currently accepting applications for SkillZone tutors for Fall 2014! 

Please submit an application and resume to Jocelyn Amevuvor. Applications are accepted throughout the semester, but the priority deadline for Fall 2014 is Wednesday, August 27, 2014. Applications and questions can be sent via e-mail to or in person to 205 Eicher Hall.
