In order to apply to the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages master’s program at IUP, please submit all of the materials listed below in full. The TESOL MA at IUP is perfect for any student who loves being immersed in contributing to and learning from the study of Global Englishes through the practices of teaching and researching.

1.  Please complete the following by February 15:

  • Fill out the online application.
  • $50 nonrefundable application fee.
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA for all related undergraduate or graduate degrees.
  • Two academic or professional letters of recommendation written by those qualified to assess the applicant’s potential for master’s study.
  • Official, sealed transcripts from all colleges and universities attended with degrees in TESOL, ESL, EFL, second/foreign language, linguistics, anthropology, sociology, psychology, history, or related fields.
  • A minimum TOEFL score of 550.
  • A minimum IELTS score of 6.0
  • Signed and dated written academic goal statement from the candidate that explains reasons for pursuing a master’s degree and professional plans.
