
James Gibson received his Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Temple University in 1989. A member of the IUP faculty since 1992, he teaches at the Northpointe regional campus in Armstrong County and at the main campus. Dr. Gibson teaches Philosophy of Religion and courses exploring religion and contemporary issues, which include Introduction to Religion, Neurotheology, Religion and the Self, Religion and Hermeneutics, and Violence in Religion. He is cofounder of the Religious Studies Resource Center based at IUP and was a university senator from 1993–1995. Dr. Gibson coordinated the IUP faculty development workshop on Myth, Ritual, Art, and Healing.
