Biography/Professional Experience

Dr. McCombie has been a part of the IUP faculty since fall 1991. Her current research interest focuses on Family and Consumer Sciences teacher education. Dr. McCombie was named Teacher Educator of the Year in 2009 by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. In 2011, she was presented with the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America Distinguished Service Award.  She served as a U.S. Representative at the International Federation of Home Economics World Congress; Luzerne, Switzerland in 2008. Dr. McCombie won the 2005–2006 IUP Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching. She was awarded both the Outstanding Teacher Award (2006) and the Research Award (2004) by the College of Health and Human Services. Dr. McCombie has served on several university committees, including her current position on the University-Wide Promotions Committee. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Department of Education Standards Alignment System Committee for Family and Consumer Sciences. She has presented at numerous national conferences and has had journal articles appear in the Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences and Techniques.
