Need help with finding or citing information sources to support your research and study? If so, the Reference Services Department is here to help you! Our main reference desk is staffed by highly trained information specialists/librarians who can help you locate factual answers to common questions, offer instruction on the use of library information resources and materials, help you cite or determine the authority and reliability of Internet sources, and help you navigate your way through the wealth of information resources available through IUP Libraries and the greater Internet. IUP’s reference librarians are experts in the use of both traditional information sources and modern electronic resources and are dedicated to helping IUP’s students, faculty, and staff.
Librarian/information specialists can be contacted in a variety of ways:
- Visit the Reference Desk, located on the first floor of Stapleton Library. It is staffed during most of the hours the Library is open and welcomes walk-in questions.
- Call us! 724-357-3006 or 1-866-836-8815.
- Chat reference is a convenient way to ask an IUP reference librarian for quick assistance or information on how to use the library and its resources.
- E-mail reference. If Chat Reference is not available or the librarian is currently assisting another patron, you can use the E-mail Reference Service and your question will be answered within twenty-four hours.
- Bring your assignment. Need in-depth help with your research paper or other class assignment that requires using the library and its resources? Make an appointment with one of the IUP librarians!
