The Government Documents Department builds and maintains the collection of federal, state, and other government-issued documents housed at IUP. IUP Libraries has been a federal depository library since 1962 and a Pennsylvania depository library since 1972. As a depository, our system houses and makes available publications issued by agencies/departments of the federal and state governments.
About the Collection
U.S. Government Documents
The Federal government collection in the library has been developed to support the university’s curriculum and research needs and the information needs of the general public. The collection strength falls into: agriculture, business, geography, health care, military, government, and politics. Mainly housed in Stapleton Library, the government document collection consists of various forms of materials, including monographs, serials, maps, CD-ROMs, videotapes, and on-line resources. In addition, the government documents in microforms—including fiches, films and cards—are especially rich in presidential, Congressional, and census materials.
Pennsylvania State Government Documents
IUP Libraries’ Pennsylvania government collection consists of publications of state agencies and departments and the executive and legislative branches. The collection of publications focuses on: public policy issues, statistics, General Assembly journals and documents, and other materials.
