The Circulation Department checks in and out library materials, processes fines or fees, and manages library shelves. Circulation is staffed at all times during regular hours by both professional staff and student assistants.
Circulation Policies
Patrons must present a university identification card (I-Card) in order to borrow books/materials. Current lending policies are:
- Undergraduate students and townspeople: Thirty days with two renewals
- Faculty, doctoral students, masters students, staff, and administrators: Ninety days with two renewals
Overdue Fines and Fees
Fines are imposed to encourage borrowers to return materials on time in order to make them available to other users. Overdue books are charged at a rate of $0.25 per day, per item.
Books more than thirty days overdue are declared lost and a Lost Book Replacement Fee of $75.00 will be charged.
Unpaid fines can result in the temporary loss of borrowing privileges. Always report a lost or misplaced book, and never ignore an overdue notice, even if you think the book has been returned.
Securing a Library Card
Non-IUP individuals may purchase a library card at the I-Card Office in the Hadley Union Building (the HUB), located on Pratt Drive. The charge for the card is $5.00. Hours may vary from one semester to another. You may call 724-463-1204 for current hours and days.
