The Cataloging Department prepares on-line computer records for all books, media, microforms, and selected websites in the main Stapleton and Stabley Library collections. Cataloging is also responsible for the physical preparation of materials for the library shelves. The department also performs many other cataloging activities in the IUP Libraries system, including database maintenance. The department coordinated much of the planning for the reclassification from Dewey to Library of Congress Classification scheme in 2001 and began authority control work the same year.
Database services are provided under contract with Endeavor Information Systems.
