Dr. Rittle is an Assistant Professor, Nursing at Chatham University.  He is a graduate of UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing, the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, the Graduate School of Public Health and Waynesburg University.   He has a long history of teaching as an Adjunct Instructor at CCAC in Pittsburgh, Butler County Community College, and Waynesburg University teaching a variety of courses prior to Chatham.

Dr. Rittle spent nine years as an Air Quality Specialist with the PA Department of Environmental Protection- serving as Asbestos Inspector in a 4-county area as well as managing all inspections in Armstrong County and the Northern part of Washington County.  Subsequently, he worked for the PA Department of Health as a Community Health Nurse in Armstrong and Butler Counties.  He then worked as Northwest District Epidemiology Manager, directing a staff of nine to coordinate completion of reportable disease investigations, the TB Program, the Immunization Program, the Bathing Place Inspection Program, and the HIV/STD Programs.

Dr. Rittle has also worked in long-term care in a number of nursing homes in the Pittsburgh area.  His interests in nursing include public health, long-term care, reduction of infectious diseases, and achieving universal vaccination to control the incidence of vaccine-preventable diseases.
