I have been involved in various aspects of community health (clinical practice in rural settings, education, research) since 1993. I am proficient in using telehealth in the community setting, and see the need for education of our future nursing workforce.  I am committed to providing a senior nursing student curriculum that graduates nurses competent in meeting the needs of clients in a community setting.  Using telehealth informatics and electronic health records, in combination with simulated lab experiences will provide opportunities to teach concepts that I believe are necessary in any nursing curriculum.  These concepts include:  prioritization of multiple problems, safe and efficient decision-making, simulated disaster preparedness in terms of chemical and bioterrism.  I am passionate about including opportunities for prioritization with multiple client assignments, safe decision-making with limited healthcare resources, and use of simulation to address needed client problems such as home safety concerns and community preparedness safety concerns.  Multiple technology resources will allow our nursing school to address necessary curriculum changes.
