Environmental HealthThe Enviromental Workshop has been cancelled. Refunds will be issued to those who have registered.

Friday, April 4, 2014 — IUP Campus

IUP Environmental HealthWorkshop: Environmental Issues in Southwestern PA will provide a forum for discussion and dissemination of information on the most common environmental health issues in and around the Indiana County area. In a rapidly changing global environment, the protection of future generations has become a major goal of national and international politics. Thus this conference will provide a place for translating scientific evidence and disseminating current education and treatment strategies toward the improvement of human health.

The conference will cover a wide variety of major environment-related health concerns. Topics include, the health risks in homes and commercial facilities of radon and how to minimize them; occupational sources of air pollution and its effects on health (pesticides, asbestos, lead, etc./asthma); the use of genes to personalize medicines (cancer and  autoimmune drugs); occupational and environmental health concerns from particulate exposures during gas well drilling and hydraulic fracturing; an overview of environmental health in extraction and use of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) and environmental awareness/community preparedness activities.

Do not miss the opportunity to meet and discuss this rapidly developing field with pre-eminent scientific leaders!
