Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a focus on the present with practices that promote greater awareness, help focus attention, deepen a sense of presence, and build compassion towards others. Mindfulness allows us to respond more consciously to what happens in our lives, rather than reacting automatically with old habits.

Practicing mindfulness techniques can help increase relaxation, decrease stress and anxiety, lead to better sleep habits, and even make you feel more alive.

Mindfulness is easier to learn and practice with the support of others. The Mindfulness Living and Learning Community at IUP offers relaxation and meditation sessions, as well as a course in mindfulness
