Maintaining a Balance

When arriving at college, it is important to remember that it will be different from high school. It is important to find the right balance between your academic and social lives.

Here are some suggestions to help stay balanced (and unstressed)!

  • Be realistic with your academics. Don’t overfill your schedule from the very beginning just to finish your degree earlier, unless you are comfortable with an overloaded schedule.
  • Stay organized. Get a planner, keep track of your assignments, make a list to stay on top of what needs your attention first.
  • Moderate. College offers plenty of opportunities to get involved, and many students need to juggle a part-time job aside from their busy college schedules. Having a sense of moderation will help maintain your balance.
  • Recognize and respect your limits.
  • Know when to say “no.” You can’t do everything all at once, and that’s okay.
