Free Film and Discussion with the Filmmaker: Good Kurds, Bad Kurds

Tuesday, November 12, 2013 4:30 PM - 7:15 PM
Eberly Auditorium

Made by journalist and filmmaker Kevin McKiernan, the film Good Kurds, Bad Kurds explores the struggles for self-determination of Kurdish communities in Iraq and Turkey, and it exposes contradictions in US foreign policy toward Kurds and the nations where they reside.  This film also questions the role of major news outlets in disseminating and silencing stories about Kurdish groups.  (2001, 81 minutes.  The film will be shown from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.)

Immediately following the film will be by a presentation by and discussion with Kevin McKiernan about the journalistic and communications-related issues raised by his reporting on the Kurds in the era of the first Gulf War.  (The discussion is from 6:00 to 7:15 p.m.)

Attendance vouchers will be provided at the end of both the film and the discussion.
