Strategic Visioning Summit

With the Strategic Visioning Summit, a university community collaboration event held October 28, 2013, the Strategic Visioning Project moved into verifying the draft vision. The goal is to finalize the vision statement for presentation to the Council of Trustees in December.

President Michael Driscoll welcomed faculty, staff, and students to the Strategic Visioning Summit, a daylong collaboration event held at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.

Over 400 people participated, attending presentations, participating in themed discussion breakout groups, and gathering in a plenary session.

Keynote speaker Richard Morrill spoke about the importance of engaged planning, especially in these times of dramatic change for public higher education, and encouraged IUP to become a national model of a successful comprehensive doctoral university for the 21st century.

With the help of 30 facilitators, process monitors, and scribes, the breakout discussion groups provided nearly 40 pages of feedback on the draft vision.

Themed discussion groups covered the new traditional learning, education of the whole person, support for regionally relevant scholarship with global impact, a responsive curriculum for the future, and other topics.
