John Mulroy

John MulroyJohn Mulroy is a certified safety professional who received a B.A. in English in 1994 and a B.S. in Safety Sciences in 1997 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). Mr. Mulroy also earned a master’s degree in Environmental Management from Duquesne University in 2005.

Mr. Mulroy joined IUP in 2013 as a full-time faculty member in the Safety Sciences Department, serving as a safety and health consultant for the PA/OSHA Consultation Program.

Before coming to IUP, Mr. Mulroy served as a health and safety professional at one of the largest coal-fired power generating stations in the mid-Atlantic region for NRG Energy and Edison Mission Energy, providing safety and health technical guidance and driving continual improvement of the facility’s health and safety management system. Mr. Mulroy also served as a health and safety professional and quality assurance engineer for Westinghouse Electric, a supplier of U.S. Navy nuclear propulsion and commercial nuclear power generation systems in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Mr. Mulroy has presented at the 2011 and 2003 Pennsylvania Governor’s Occupational Safety and Health conferences, and at the 2003 Western Pennsylvania Safety, Health, and Environmental conference. He served as cochair of the 2012 International Fatality Prevention Forum in Pittsburgh. He is a member of the IUP Safety Sciences Advisory Board, a professional member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, and a member of the Indiana county Local Emergency Planning Committee.
