Scholarship Application and Obligations

All applicants are required to submit the following:

  1. Student application
  2. Résumé addressing academic recognitions, awards, and honors, as well as work and volunteer experiences
  3. Official transcript(s) from all colleges and universities attended
  4. Two letters of recommendation from people knowledgeable about the student’s potential for successful learning, knowledge, and abilities. One letter must be from a current faculty member. The second letter may be from a current or former employer. Each letter must contain the name, position or title, telephone number, e-mail address, and institutional or organizational address of the referrer.
  5. Statement of intent (no more than 2,500 words), including
    1. goals and motivations to pursue a career in information assurance
    2. leadership in potential and ability to work with others
    3. desire to work for the government in cybersecurity

The applicant must also participate in an interview with the IUP CyberCatch interview panel.

Scholarship Obligations

The recipient must agree to do the following:

  1. Apply and obtain, following graduation, a position with a local, state, or federal government agency in a position related to cybersecurity for a period equal to the length of the scholarship
  2. Participate in government summer internship positions during the scholarship years
  3. Attend and participate in SFS activities, which include conferences, workshops, and seminars
  4. Maintain a GPA of 3.2 or higher while remaining a full-time student
  5. Agree to and sign a service agreement
