Irvin RiveraMr. Irvin Rivera is assistant director of Admissions for Latino Recruitment at IUP. He was hired at the beginning of the Fall 2012 semester.

Mr. Rivera graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology, Graphic Communications Technology from Millersville University of Pennsylvania in 2011. During his time at Millersville University, he worked for the Millersville Admissions Office. Through the Admissions Office, Rivera helped pioneer the PALM program (Promoting Access through Leadership at Millersville), which aimed to reduce the dropout rate of high school and college students and to encourage higher education. Rivera also worked closely with the president of Millersville University and her cabinet as a student assistant worker for the Office of the President at Millersville.

While he was earning his bachelor’s degree, Rivera was also helping cofound a Millersville chapter of Lambda Sigma Upsilon, a Latino fraternity. As the officer of Recruitment for Lambda Sigma Upsilon, Rivera collaborated with the office of Admissions in a recruiting program called the Multicultural Outreach Program, in which the members of Lambda Sigma Upsilon and the Admissions Office would invite prospective minority students to visit the Millersville University campus for a day. While attending Millersville University, Rivera also served as the Public Relations and Marketing chair for Lambda Sigma Upsilon at Millersville.

Rivera was also a member of the Society on Latino Affairs at Millersvile (SOLA), which promotes the unification of all cultures and the understanding of Latinos. Rivera served as treasurer for SOLA for one year.

Since his graduation from Millersville University, Rivera began serving as the regional director and event coordinator of the Pennsylvania Region of Lambda Sigma Upsilon.

In his free time, Rivera enjoys singing, dancing, songwriting, and hiking.
