Parent/Tot

The first years of learning are led mostly by the parent. This program involves the parents directly with the tot. This course will promote confidence, fun, and positive first experiences for children and parents. You and your child need to feel safe and comfortable around the water, and early interaction is a key to this.

For the tot: this program introduces elementary skills, such as water entry, kicking, blowing bubbles, and arm circles, to create a familiarity with skills needed to perform once the child is ready for regular group lessons.

For the parents: this level enhances swimming safety awareness and the necessary socialization skills needed for beginner swimmers.

Fundamental White

The primary goal of our instructional program is to promote basic aquatic skill proficiency to our youth. The ability to handle one’s self in and around the water is the primary concern in this class. Skill and confidence is mixed with fun and recreation in this class.

The first level is for students who have no prior swimming proficiency. Skills introduced in this program are safe water entry and exit; submerging mouth, nose, and eyes; opening eyes under water; exhaling; floating; and basic safe swim defense.

Skill Building Grey

Basic stroke development and confidence are offered in this program. This class requires completion of the Grey skill proficiency test.

Beginners will perform skills such as jumping into the water, submerging their entire head, and treading water. They will also learn basic reaching and throwing assists as well as the principles of safe swim defense. Beginners will work toward becoming swimmers by session’s end.

Technique Building Crimson

After completing the proficiency test for the Crimson level, the swimmers will be taught more detailed stroke development in front crawl, breast stroke, side stroke, and back strokes.

Objectives include reaching and throwing rescues, surface diving, diving from the side, object retrieval from the bottom, and water survival skills. During the last session, the culmination of the class will include demonstration of all five strokes.

Advanced Hawks

Lifesavers will learn more advanced rescue skills. This class requires the completion of the Crimson skill test. This class will prepare youth to train for official lifeguarding certifications. During this program, lifesavers will learn reaching and throwing rescues, as well as in-water rescue techniques.

Strong swimming skills are necessary for this course. The child will be asked to swim eight laps of the pool as part of the class. The child should display both physical and mental maturity and be strong enough to maintain physical stamina in deep water. As there is no age requirement, it is recommended that the child be at least 13 years of age.
