Open and Accessible to Everyone

The Science Discovery and Outdoor Learning Center is open to the public except on days it has been reserved. Please walk in anytime and enjoy our facility.

  • Weekdays: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Weekends: Not open, but available by reservation
  • Winter Break: The center is closed from Thanksgiving break through Spring break.

For IUP students

IUP studentsIUP students may use the center for various activities, including:

  • Relaxing and enjoying being outside during your breaks!
  • Having lunch in this serene and comfortable environment
  • Doing your work and assignments outside in the fresh air rather than being inside
  • Meeting with friends and faculty members
  • Checking your e-mail, Facebook, and Twitter
  • Using the center for a group or club meetings

For IUP Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff may use the center for various activities, including:

  • Reserving the pavilion to have class
  • Meeting with students informally while relaxing outside
  • Enjoying your lunch outside
  • Meeting with friends and colleagues in this beautiful environment

For Groups and the Local Community

Groups and the local communityMembers of the community may use the center for various activities, including:

  • Reserve the center and bring scouting groups and students in grades K-12 to enjoy the center.
  • Get help with instruction from current IUP Education majors.
  • Hold your club meetings here! The pavilion has state-of-the-art technology available for your use.
  • Reserve the center for events.

For Local Educators

Local educators may use the center for various activities, including:

  • Bring your elementary school students for field trips.
  • Have instruction provided by IUP Education majors.
  • Combine field trips with tours of other areas of interest on the campus, such as the Center for Turning and Furniture Design to observe IUP students designing and building furniture.
