Transition Your DNP to a Ph.D. in Record Time

With the unique Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program at IUP, students will easily combine the skills and education gained throughout their DNP program with the knowledge and teaching abilities provided by a Ph.D. degree. As students progress through this accelerated Ph.D. program, they will encounter a shortened curriculum offered on a convenient timeframe that accommodates their professional schedule and academic needs. Students enrolled in the program will gain knowledge in everything from curriculum evaluation in nursing to conducting various kinds of research necessary to teaching in the university level nursing classroom. With Ph.D. level nursing faculty in high demand nationwide, the DNP to Ph.D. program at IUP prepares you for a career as a professor of nursing in various academic settings, including colleges and universities, and is perfect for nurses that already have a DNP who wish to obtain tenure track faculty positions within a university setting.

What the DNP to Ph.D. Program at IUP Can Offer You:

  • Complete your Ph.D. in half the time. As 27 credits from a DNP degree transfer to this innovative Ph.D., coursework is completed in a highly accelerated format, requiring only 33 semester hours of graduate credits to complete the DNP to Ph.D. degree as opposed to the 60 hours required of the traditional nursing Ph.D.
  • This course format, offered two Fridays per month, allows students to conduct advanced research vital to the field of nursing education as they continue their established professional careers.
  • Students will build a supportive professional and academic network with other students in a cohort, progressing throughout the coursework as a group.
