The Position: The Department of Chemistry at Indiana University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of Chemical Education at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2013.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Chemical Education, Chemistry or a related field and demonstrated expertise in the area of chemical education is required. The candidate must be able to teach introductory level chemistry as well as upper level Chemistry or Chemistry Education courses, and have the potential to establish and maintain a funded research program in Chemical Education. Previous teaching experience in a high school setting, or postdoctoral experience, is preferred. Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well during the interview process, which may include a teaching demonstration.
Responsibilities: Teach introductory level chemistry for science and non-science majors, as well as advanced courses in area of expertise. Advise and supervise student teaching for the Chemical Education majors. Take responsibility for maintaining state and national program certification. Maintain a funded research program in Chemical Education that includes undergraduate students, and participate in department initiatives to improve educational resources.
