RAINN Day: September 27, 2012
According to RAINN, one in six women and one in 33 men will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. College-age women are four times more likely to be sexually assaulted.
It may be a common crime, but it doesn’t belong on our campus. So, each September, the Haven Project sponsers RAINN Day. RAINN is the largest anti-sexual assault organization in the U.S. RAINN Day is our way of supporting this organization’s effort to educate campuses, support survivors, and take a stand against sexual assault. Come to the Oak Grove and see our display of umbrellas, and show your support for survivors.
Hundreds of volunteers help us to get the word out that this type of violence shouldn’t be part of our campus. We are once again looking for volunteers to help us in a variety of ways. We will be in the Oak Grove on September 17, 18, 19 and 20 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm looking for anyone who would be willing to volunteer to make this year’s RAINN Day a success. We will also be in the HUB Susquehanna Room on Thursday, September 20 from 7:00 pm till 9:00 pm. If you or your student organization wants to volunteer to help, be sure to come visit us at those times. Hope to see you there!
