The Position: The Department of Special Education and Clinical Services at Indiana University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a temporary position at the Instructor level for the Deaf Education program to begin August 2012. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in the Deaf Education program, which may include the following: American Sign Language; Deaf Culture; pedagogical methods; language for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and English-language learners; and speech for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. The successful candidate may be required to teach at off-campus sites.
Qualifications: Eligibility for certification from the Council of Education of the Deaf is required. Teaching experience with deaf and/or hard-of-hearing children is required. Eligibility for criminal, child-abuse, and FBI fingerprint clearances is required. Competency in ASL and other signed systems is required. The candidate should demonstrate competency in the use of instructional technology. All applicants must be work eligible, communicate effectively, and perform well in the interview(s).
