The Lively Arts is the umbrella for all performing and visual arts events presented by the College of Fine Arts.

The Department of Music presents dozens of events each year. Of special note are those presented as part of our Sound Choices and Music Theater series.

Both of which these series are produced by our faculty and highlight performances by our students, faculty, alumni, and special guests.

Featuring new and classic pieces, faculty memebers Stanley and Swanna Chepaitis (violins) and Linda Jennings (cello) are joined by special guest Raul Faure (viola).

Bands in Review

November 11, Sunday 7:00 p.m.; Fisher Auditorium, IUP Performing Arts Center

Conducted by David Martynuik, the IUP Marching Band performs a collection of spirited music. The concert will include the IUP Jazz Ensemble, led by Kevin Eisensmith.

A celebrated comic opera for the whole family, this musical has love stories, sword fights, dancing, and much more.

March 6–9 at 8:00 p.m. and March 10 at 2:00 p.m.; Waller Hall Mainstage, IUP Performing Arts Center.

A musical comedy based on the comic strip “Peanuts.” We invite you to enjoy a day with Charlie Brown and gang.

An Evening of Dance and Percussion

April 6 at 7:00 p.m.; Fisher Auditorium, IUP Performing Arts Center

IUP’s Dance Theater and Percussion Ensemble join forces for a rousing evening of music and movement.

An Opera Gala

May 10 at 8:00 p.m.; Fisher Auditorium, Performing Arts Center

A unique production for the university and community, this concert gala will feature the IUP Symphony Orchestra conducted by David Martynuik; IUP voice faculty members Mary Logan-Hastings and Joseph Baunoch; and special guest Richard Fracker, former Metropolitan Opera tenor. Among the evening’s offerings will be favorites from operas by Puccini, Verdi, and Gounod.
