A limited number of assistantships are awarded yearly to full-time, highly qualified, degree-seeking graduate students.

Duties are performed under the supervision of a faculty member or administrator. Assistantships require 20 hours of work weekly for both the Fall and Spring semesters (600 hours over the period of the assistantship) and provide a stipend and full tuition remission during the academic year. In addition, graduate assistants receive a tuition waiver for 12 credits during the following summer.

Graduate students working 10 hours per week during both Fall and Spring semesters (300 hours over the period of the assistantship) receive one-half the total stipend amount and a 50 percent tuition waiver in the academic year. In addition, tuition remission for six credits is provided during the following summer.

Both 10-hour and 20-hour assistantships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence rather than financial need. The deadline for applying for a Fall assistantship is March 15 of the same calendar year. Students interested in pursuing the Federal Stafford Loan Program or Federal Work Study Program must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), located on the FAFSA website.
