Get My Story: Amy

Amy Hromadik chose IUP at Northpointe’s Electro-Optics program after her employer closed and left her unemployed and looking for a new career. Her choice now has her career moving at light speed.

“Knowing that there is a demand in electro-optics is what helped me to pick this degree,” she said. “I will be able to get a job.

“If you were ever curious about lasers, fiber optics, electronics, and how to build circuits, you picked the right field. I love working with the high-tech equipment and professors that care about how you are doing.” The Northpointe campus gives you the support you need to reach your goals, she said. “The professors will work with you and help you. You get to know your professor and other students. We all work together while learning.”

From attending star-gazing parties to helping with the Northpointe summer electro-optics camp for high school students, Amy has found lots of interesting ways to stay involved on campus outside of class.

“Being a member and officer of the International Society for Optics and Photonics committee has helped in not only being an IUP student, but a part of the community as well.

“There are quite a few nontraditional students at IUP Northpointe. I thought I was going to be the only one . . . but I was surprised to see how many of us there were. I really have enjoyed IUP at Northpointe, and would recommend this to anyone.”
