The Writing Center’s mission is to help students become better writers. To accomplish this mission:
- We help instructors and advisors to develop writing assignments and pedagogies that reflect best practices in the teaching of writing. To request a consultation, please contact the Writing Center director, Dr. Ben Rafoth, at brafoth@iup.edu.
- Peer tutors are here to meet with your students in 218 Eicher Hall, Stapleton Library, or online.
- We encourage instructors to include information about the Writing Center in their syllabi. We have sample texts available for faculty use.
- We offer workshops led by Writing Center tutors on a variety of topics. These workshops are an excellent way to address specific concerns like documenting sources and revising a paper, and they encourage students to visit the Writing Center on their own. You can request a workshop online.
- We provide web-based resources on a variety of topics.
