MS in Sport Science: Sport Studies Course List

An MS in Sport Studies prepares students for multiple career options in sports. This track permits students to design a curriculum that combines courses from multiple departments to create an academic emphasis. 

This track also allows students to choose a 30-credit thesis option or a 36-credit non-thesis option.  The MS in Sport Studies consists of the following courses:

Thesis Option: 30 Credits

Core Courses: 12 Credits

HPED 601: Sport and Society (3 credits)
HPED 603: Physiological Basis of Sport (3 credits)
HPED 634: Current Literature in Health, Fitness, and Sport (3 credits)
HPED 640: Research Methods for Health, Sport, and Physical Activity (3 credits)

Required Course: 3 Credits

HPED 795: Thesis (3 credits)

Elective Courses: 15 Credits

Students may select graduate level electives with advisor permission.  9 credits must be HPED graduate level courses. 

Non-Thesis Track: 36 Credits

Core Courses: 12 Credits
