The questions below are the most common asked the University Post Office. If your question is not listed, please call us at 724-357-2578 or ask at the Post Office service desk, lower level of Folger Hall, Maple St. entrance.

Why do I need to have “CRIMSON HAWKS” in my address?

The “CRIMSON HAWKS” designation tells the United States Postal Service that the recipient is a “resident student” at IUP living in campus operated facilities.

I reside in one of the IUP residence halls. What address do use for receiving my mail?

Your address is:

Your Name
Your 4 digit mailbox number (followed by) CRIMSON HAWKS
Indiana PA  15705 - your 4 digit mailbox number

What time is the mail available for me to pick up?

By around 11:00 a.m., most of the mail has been distributed into the student mailboxes.

What happens when mail to me is not addressed to my mailbox number followed by CRIMSON HAWKS?

For a limited time, the IUP Post Office will try to match the old resident hall address with your new mailbox number. If not found, the mail will be returned to sender.

What do I do when mail to me is not addressed correctly?

Most mail sent to anyone contains CHANGE OF ADDRESS INFORMATION. You must return this form to sender with your new address information. Mailers also have customer service phone numbers that you can contact, or on-line change of address information sites.

After the semester concludes, or I leave the university, how do I receive my mail?

To continue receiving your mail, you must do two things:

  1. Provide your local USPS Post Office with a change of address form.
  2. Provide the IUP Post Office with a change of address form.

When I return to the university, how do I receive my mail?

If you continue to live in one of the IUP residence halls upon your return, remember all mail must be addressed with:

Your Name
Your 4 digit mailbox number (followed by) CRIMSON HAWKS
Indiana PA  15705 - your 4 digit mailbox number

If I decide to live off-campus will I receive my mail at the IUP Post Office?

When an IUP residence hall student leaves IUP or decides to live off-campus while attending IUP, the mailbox issued to them will be terminated and mail will no longer be delivered to that address by the IUP Post Office.To receive mail off campus you must do two things:

  1. Provide your local USPS Post Office with a change of address form.
  2. Provide the IUP Post Office with a change of address form.

This will ensure that mail addressed to your former IUP residence hall will be routed to your new address.
