Heide WitthoeftDr. Heide Witthöft is associate professor of German in the Department of Foreign Languages.

She received her Ph.D. in German from the University of Oregon in 1995. She also holds an M.A. in German and English Philology from Ruprecht-Karls-Universität in Heidelberg, Germany (1989).

Dr. Witthöft is the author of one book, Von Angesicht zu Angesicht: Literarische Spiegelszenen (New York: Peter Lang, 1998), and has published articles on German fairy tales, Rainer Maria Rilke, and German movie director Roland Emmerich.

She has presented papers on German fairy tales, Rainer Maria Rilke, Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, Stefan Zweig, Lou Andreas-Salomé, Martin Opitz, and Roland Emmerich at local, national, and international conferences. Her research interests include German fairy tales, 19th- and 20th-century German and Austrian literature, and German film.

Dr. Witthöft is a member of the coordinating committee of the IUP Spring Methodology Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.

Dr. Witthöft's Fall 2013 office hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:45–9:45 and Tuesdays from 1:00–3:00; other times by appointment.

Dr. Witthöft teaches German language, culture, film, and literature classes. Her Spring 2013 office hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:00–9:00 a.m., and Tuesdays from 1:00–3:00 p.m.

Dr. Witthöft is the coordinator of Stammtisch, a German language table open to anyone interested in practicing their German skills. The Spring 2013 Stammtisch schedule is as follows:
