Christina Huhn, SpanishDr. Christina Huhn joined IUP in 2011 as an assistant professor of Spanish.

Her doctorate is in Foreign Language Education and Technology from Purdue University. Her experience includes work in a wide variety of areas, including second language writing, beginning language learners, and technology. Her work has included program assessments, through both her MA thesis and doctoral dissertation, and for K12 school districts and community colleges. She's also worked in program review as a Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation program reviewer.

Dr. Huhn participates regularly in the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (NECTFL), and the IUP Spring Methodology Conference, and regularly attends and presents projects at annual conferences. She has also presented papers at the Southern Conference on Language Teaching, WVFLTA, and other local conferences. Her published research focuses on teacher classroom strategies, foreign language teacher preparation, second language writing, program review and technology. She is also a member-at-large of the Pennsylvania State Modern Language Association and is currently president of the Appalachian Professional Language Educators’ Society (APPLES).

Prior to returning to academia, she worked in bilingual customer service and as a translator/interpreter. Christina is originally from the upper Midwest, and comes to IUP via West Virginia. She enjoys being outdoors with her dogs, as well as music, beadwork, and digital photography.
