Dr. Christina HuhnDr. Christina Huhn joined IUP in 2011 as an assistant professor of Spanish.

Her doctorate is in Foreign Language Education and Technology from Purdue University. Her experience includes work in a wide variety of areas, including second language writing, beginning language learners, and technology. Her work has also included program assessments as both her M.A. thesis and doctoral dissertation, for local school districts, and program review as a National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) program reviewer. She comes to IUP from West Virginia, and serves as past president of the West Virginia Foreign Language Teachers Association (WVFLTA).

Dr. Huhn participates regularly in the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, the Northeast Conference on Language Teaching, and the IUP Spring Methodology Conference. She has presented papers at the Southern Conference on Language Teaching, WVFLTA, and other local conferences. Her published research focuses on teacher classroom strategies, foreign language teacher preparation, second language writing, and technology. She is also a member at large of the Pennsylvania State Modern Language Association and is currently president of the Appalachian Professional Language Educators’ Society (APPLES).

Prior to returning to academia, she worked in bilingual customer service and as a translator/interpreter. Christina is originally from the upper Midwest and enjoys being outdoors with her dogs, as well as music, beadwork, and digital photography.

Spring 2014 Office Hours

Tuesday 12:00–2:00, Wednesday 4:45–6:00, and Friday 12:30–2:00 (in Stouffer Hall). Other times are by appointment, and e-mail consultation is always available.
