Dr. Rachinni

Dr. Jim Racchini is an assistant professor in the Health and Physical Education–Athletic Training program at IUP. Dr. Racchini’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (1994), a Master of Science from Frostburg State University (1996), and a Doctor of Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (2007). He is a certified athletic trainer as well as a certified strength and conditioning specialist. Additionally, he is certified through the American Red Cross as an instructor in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Layperson First Aid/CPR/AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens: PDT. Dr. Racchini is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association, and the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers’ Society.

Currently Dr. Racchini teaches a variety of courses, including Prevention and Care of Injuries to the Physically Active, General Medical Conditions in Athletic Training, Therapeutic Modalities, Athletic Training Practicum III, Foundations of Safety and Emergency Health Care, and Health and Wellness.

His professional experience includes serving as a clinical certified athletic trainer at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and Marywood University. Additionally, Dr. Racchini served four years as the Athletic Training education program director at Frostburg State University. He has also presented professionally at the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers’ Society Symposium and the IUP/Center for Orthopaedics and Sport Medicine Athletic Training Update.

Dr. Racchini is actively involved with the IUP Common Freshman Reader program and serves on the university Judicial Board. Additionally, Dr. Racchini is a member of both the Retention and Recruitment committees of the College of Health and Human Services.
