Thank you for your interest in being a volunteer note-taker!

Your willingness to assist us helps facilitate equal access for all students at IUP. The note-taking positions are on an “as needed” basis. Each class that needs a note-taker will be sent an e-mail advertising the position.

Responsibilities of a volunteer note-taker include:

  • Going to every class
  • Taking in-depth and neat notes
  • Coming into the office (Pratt Hall, room 216) once a week to have your notes photocopied
  • Communicating with the note-taker coordinator of any problems or concerns throughout the semester

All note-takers will receive a $50 Co-op gift card and a letter of recommendation at the end of the semester. Note-takers who are not satisfying the job requirements may be dismissed at anytime without compensation.

This handbook is designed to provide an overview of how the Advising and Testing Center – Disability Support Services expects notetaking services to be provided at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  This handbook includes:  qualifications of a note-taker, responsibilities/duties, compensation, ethics, and other practical information for note-takers.  Every note-taker must read through the handbook carefully and take a short quiz.

Procedures for Submitting Notes
The note-taker is required to provide the Advising and Testing Center with a copy of his or her notes once a week.
