Why are there 3,800 animal shelters in the U.S. and only 1,900 women’s shelters, when every nine seconds in the U.S. a woman is battered, and one out of every four women will be raped before they reach the age of twenty? Nancy Hulse combines dance, dramatic performance, and popular music in a six-segment show that illustrates the history of an abusive relationship that is specific in its violence yet universal in its theme.
