The Research Institute supports faculty and staff members in finding external funding opportunities and in developing proposals and budgets for externally awarded (sponsored) grants.
In addition to the database and Internet resources available to you for finding funding, the Research Institute’s project development officers can perform a customized funding opportunity search.

Finding External Funding Opportunities
Proposal Development for Externally Awarded (Sponsored) Grants
- Personnel
- IUP Research Institute staff are available to assist IUP Researchers with finding, applying for, securing, and managing externally funded projects.
- Proposal Development
- The Research Institute provides pre-award proposal and budget development support for faculty and professional staff seeking external funding.
- Budget Development
- The Research Institute assists faculty and staff with preparing proposal budgets by providing current salaries, wages, fringe benefits, F&A costs, yearly escalation, and other cost rates.
- Proposal Authorization
- In order to ensure that proposal submissions are consistent with the university’s research agenda; are formulated in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations; and are of the highest professional quality, the university requires signature authorization for all proposals prior to submission.
- Proposal Review
- Prior to submission of any external funding request, a proposal must go through a standard IUP review process.
