Pat Heilman, Journalism Department professor, will be on sabbatical this Fall. She will be examining the original journalism of Nellie Bly (Elizabeth Cochran, a native of Armstrong County and an attendee of Indiana Normal School) and Jane Grey Swisshelm, a western Pennsylvania journalist who was a proponent of women's property rights and divorce reform.
In addition, Heilman will interview contemporary Pennsylvania women journalists to ascertain women's progress in the field of journalism.
