Applications Sought for First Student Affairs Excellence in Assessment Award

Student Affairs colleagues are encouraged to join in the 2010 celebration of Excellence in Assessment and gain recognition for your department. Be sure to submit an application for this meaningful award—certain to become a proud tradition at IUP!

The submission and application process is outlined below:

  • The award will recognize a single outstanding assessment project completed within the Student Affairs Division (individually or as part of a team) during the past academic year.
  • The application process is uncomplicated and straightforward, using assessment materials already prepared.
  • More than one application from a department is encouraged.
  • The application is due Friday, July 23, 4:00 p.m.
  • To remove potential bias in the evaluation process, applications will be reviewed and scored by a team of university colleagues from other divisions. Five criteria will be used in the review process:
    1. Clearly-stated purpose
    2. Linked to Mission and Vision of department and/or division
    3. Potential to improve quality of student experience and positively impact IUP students
    4. Methodology
    5. Evidence of a strategy to act on assessment findings; i.e., potential to close the loop and show improvement
  • The project winner(s) will be announced at the divisional opening gathering in September.

If you have any questions regarding the award, please do not hesitate to contact your department’s Student Affairs Division’s Student Learning Outcomes Committee (SAD-SLOC) representative or Jack Makara (jgmakara@iup.edu), SAD-SLOC cochair.
