Onyett to Discuss Remote Observation of Student Teachers

Loading...

Lloyd Onyett, assistant dean for Technology for the College of Education and Educational Technology, will present a paper at the International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE) conference in Denver on June 28, 2010. His presentation will be “Remote Observation of Student Teachers.”

Mr. Onyett has developed a system using Skype software, wireless microphones, and web cameras to allow professors to observe student teachers at remote school sites. The system not only has reduced the travel time and travel expenses for faculty, but reduces the anxiety of the student teachers. Student teachers have indicated that they feel the new observation system is much less intrusive in their classrooms and less of a distraction for their students as well.

This is the tenth presentation that Mr. Onyett has given over the years at ISTE conferences.
