Teacher educators from IUP attended the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s (PDE) Standards Aligned System (SAS) Institute in June.
SAS is a new, web-based system that instantly connects users to resources designed specifically to support and improve instruction, curricular frameworks, assessments, standards, interventions, materials, and resources.
The purpose of this institute was to provide participants with an overview of the Standards Aligned System, including how it is being used in schools throughout Pennsylvania, how it connects with other educational initiatives, and how SAS and the SAS Portal might be used in teacher and administrator preparation programs. Participation in this program was important because, according to PDE, “An understanding of SAS will be critical for the success of all teacher and administrator candidates as they enter Pennsylvania schools for employment or even student teaching.”
