Loading...

Dr. Jeffrey Larkin of the Department of Biology received an external award from the American Bird Conservancy in the amount of $122,000 for his project “Forestland Best Management Practices for the Golden-winged Warbler in Pennsylvania and Maryland.”

This is a two-year project to develop a landmanager’s guide for the creation of Golden-winged Warbler breeding habitat in forested areas of Pennsylvania and Maryland.

The Golden-winged Warbler is one of the most critically threatened vertebrate species in the eastern United States, and habitat management is believed to be the most important step in the conservation of this species.

Project partners include the American Bird Conservancy, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
