Maddy Outman has become the first IUP athlete to win a Championship of America event at the Penn Relays.
The track and field athlete broke the school record in the seven-event heptathlon and automatically qualified for nationals, while also earning a provisional qualifying time in the 800 meters.
The Penn Relays were held April 21–24, 2010, in Philadelphia.
Outman, of Longmont, Colo., is pursuing a master’s in sociology at IUP.
