Cooper Presents on Nutrition and Motherhood at Society for Applied Anthropology

Dr. Elizabeth Cooper of the Anthropology Department presented a paper titled “Good Mother, Bad Mother: The Interplay of Child Nutritional Policy and Concepts of Motherhood in Malaysian Borneo” at the Society for Applied Anthropology annual meeting in Merida, Mexico.

The paper was presented in a session that she chaired, “Community-Based Approaches Addressing Food Insecurity and Nutrition.”

Dr. Cooper joined the Anthropology Department in 2009 as an assistant professor after completing her graduate work at the University of South Florida, where she earned a Ph.D. in Applied Anthropology and a master’s degree in public health. She has conducted research in Malaysia.

The Society for Applied Anthropology meetings were held March 24–27, 2010.
