The College of Education and Educational Technology is sponsoring a talk by Kurt Kondrich on early intervention in the state of Pennsylvania. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. in Beard Auditorium in Stouffer Hall.

Mr. Kondrich is an early intervention/early childhood education advocate. He graduated from IUP in 1985 with a B.A. in Criminology and worked as a police officer for twenty years in Atlanta; Fort Myers, Florida; and Pittsburgh. He left that career after his daughter, Chloe, was born. He earned a master's degree in early intervention from the University of Pittsburgh in 2007.

He is the chair of the Pennsylvania State Interagency Coordinating Council (SICC), a fifteen-member advisory board of parents, Department of Education members, public welfare and health professionals, and others appointed by the governor. The SICC advises the departments on the Pennsylvania Early Intervention System.

Mr. Kondrich is also director of Community/Family Outreach for Early Intervention Specialists and serves on the PA Early Learning Council, the Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh board of directors, the Early Intervention Coalition of Advocates, and other early intervention advisory boards.
