Scandrett to Present at Technology Institute for Music Educators (TI:ME) Conference

Dr. Jack Scandrett of the IUP Department of Music will present the results of a project using videoconferencing to coach a student brass quintet at the TI:ME National Conference in conjunction with the New Jersey Music Educators Conference, February 18–20, 2010.

The project, called iNet Prep, was originally done in cooperation with the Center for Advancing Partnerships in Education with support from an Innovation grant from the IUP Academic Computing Policy Advisory Committee. The Hoodlebug Brass (IUP brass faculty) teamed up with IUP alumnus Jerrod Cannistraci to coach a student brass quintet at Richland High School in Johnstown from their rehearsal room in Cogswell Hall. The Technology Institute for Music Educators (TI:ME) is a nonprofit corporation registered in the State of Pennsylvania whose mission is to assist music educators in applying technology to improve teaching and learning in music. Dr. Scandrett has been a member of the organization since it’s first year and is a certified instructor of TI:ME courses for high school music teachers.
